I Explore

Encourage the young scientist in all of us

Children are natural scientists, exploring and testing the world in every conceivable way. Discovery, curiosity and play make up the building blocks of lifelong learning. I Explore is an interactive environment designed for children ages 1-5. Here, with their adult caregivers, young guests can learn about themselves and the world in which they live in a safe, engaging way.

Exhibition Highlights

Rock Xylophone
Talk about rocking out! Strike five large hanging rock slabs with rubber mallets to create intriguing sounds.

► Ball Machine
Make it go! Determine the route of a ball as it traverses a complex, two-story pathway. Use an air cannon to position the ball as it begins its journey, then turn cranks to change its route all along the way. All done? Try it again and choose another route.

Slice of Street
What’s down there? Step under a sidewalk and discover the complex world under our feet, from city creatures to conduits and pipes to passageways.

Document your Visit
Scientists document their observations, and you can, too. Think about something you learned today and record it in a drawing. Then upload a digital image of yourself with your work. Only you and your family can access it from home.

I Explore is made possible by the generosity of the Schering-Plough Foundation.
