Public Programming

In addition to the exciting permanent exhibition galleries, Liberty Science Center offers engaging traveling exhibitions, the nation's largest IMAX Dome Theater, and Live Science presentations with plenty of audience participation throughout the building. Guests can also enjoy a wide variety of ongoing public programming and special events which will be posted on this page. Please note, all events below are subject to change. Young Scientist Story Hour with Miss Jennifer

Do you adore animals? Then join us for a free Young Scientist Story Hour for children ages 3 – 11 with their families. Admittance is first-come, first–served and spaced is limited. Story Hour takes place in the presentation area of the third floor Eat and Be Eaten exhibition. 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00

One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure

One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure begins on Sesame Street when Elmo's friend, Hu Hu Zhu, visits from China. Big Bird, Elmo and Hu Hu Zhu take viewers on an exciting discovery of the sun, moon, and stars. They also learn about the Big Dipper and the North Star. Elmo and Hu Hu Zhu then take an imaginary trip to the Moon where they learn that the Moon is a very different place from the Earth. When they imagine themselves back on Earth, they celebrate the idea that even though they live in two different countries, they still share the same sky. They even pick the North Star as their friendship star to always remind them of their shared joy of looking up at the sky together. Made possible by the Sesame Street Workshop and the National Science Foundation. Times: 11:30 am, 1:00 pm, and 2:00 pm; Ages: Recommended for ages 4-6 with adults; Cost: $3.00 child/$4.00 adult

Rambling Red Blood Cells Theater Show –
This lively 30-minute theater presentation teaches youngsters about the circulatory and respiratory systems and how they keep us “pumped up.”  Suitable for ages 8+; seats are available on a first-come, first served basis.  Joseph D. Williams Science Theater 12:45 pm. Free with paid admission.  
Anatomy Vests – Is your heart in the right place? Create a vest and paste cut-out paper organs such as the heart and intestines in their correct locations. 10:00 am – 4:00 pm in the Infection Connection gallery. Free with paid admission.

Take A “Walk Through the Heart” – Step inside a giant, inflatable heart from Overlook Hospital’s Department of Community Health and the Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute and learn about cardiovascular functions, diseases, and prevention.  Health professionals from Overlook’s Community Health will be available to answer questions and help every family member understand this important information.  All ages.
