Who can volunteer at Liberty Science Center?
Anyone can be a solo volunteer, as long as you're at least 14 years old; younger people can also volunteer but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

How much time is required of volunteers?
Volunteers are asked to work a shift of at least four to five hours. Shifts should be scheduled every week or every other weekend. We also ask for a one-year commitment from volunteers.

Do volunteers receive training?
In addition to job-specific training, each new volunteer goes through an organizational orientation to the Science Center and receives an overview tour in order to become familiar with exhibitions and programs. You will also receive a volunteer handbook.

What is the process of becoming a volunteer?

Once you return the application with either the parental consent or the background check for to us, you will be contacted to schedule an interview. Based on your application and interview, you may be asked to come for an orientation and training session. If you satisfactorily complete orientation and training, a staff member from your department will work with you to arrange your volunteering schedule.
