Cardiac Science | In the O.R. | Resources

No bigger than the size of a fist, the heart is the central pump that circulates blood throughout the body. Damage to this vital organ interrupts the flow of oxygen and nutrients that keep muscles, nerves and all other tissue alive and functional. Liberty Science Center has pioneered a program that presents live cardiac surgery as it happens, and students can interact with the surgical team during the procedure via teleconferencing technology. Classes leave Liberty Science Center with an understanding of coronary artery disease, healthy lifestyle choices, risk factors for disease and careers in cardiac research and medicine.
