Outdoor Enhanced Experiences
Right in the middle of one of the most densely populated areas in the world lies an ecological haven known as Liberty State Park. With our Outdoor Enhanced Experiences, one of our knowledgeable Science Educators will take you and your students out in the field, where you’ll learn about the plants, animals, habitats and geology of the Hudson River Estuary, as well as the impact of humans on the river. We offer both land-based and on-the river experiences.
Botany: The World of Plants
What are plants and how do they work? In this program, students explore plant structure and function through a series of hands-on activities and experiments. Students also venture outside to observe and identify both native and invasive species of plants.
Onsite Enhanced Experiences
During our onsite Enhanced Experiences, a Science Educator guides your group as you dig deeper into one of the Center’s new exhibitions. Then you’ll head down to the Jennifer A. Chalsty Center for Science Learning and Teaching for an interactive lesson related to the exhibition. When you’re done, don’t worry. You’ll still have enough time left to explore the rest of our exhibitions.
Outbreak
What causes people to get sick? Solve the mystery of what causes illnesses and how to prevent their spread.
Urban Estuary
What happens when the river meets the sea? Test samples of water from the river and delve into how human activities affect the unique plants and animals that inhabit Our Hudson Home.
