Community Evenings

Community Evenings are exclusive events hosted once a month for all families of students and teachers in New Jersey's 31 Abbott school districts.

Held after hours from 5:30 - 9:00 pm, Community Evenings are a great way for families to discover the excitement of science learning together -- at no cost! Guests are invited to explore the Science Center's engaging exhibition galleries and experience the excitement of giant screen films in the nation's largest IMAX^® Dome Theater and digital 3-D shows in the Joseph D. Williams Science Theater. Additionally, there will be special family programming with live demonstrations and plenty of hands-on activities for all.  

School districts are assigned specific dates, but may attend any of our Community Evenings:

October 15, 2008 - Asbury Park, Gloucester, Passaic and Plainfield
November 19, 2008 - Newark and Vineland
December 17, 2008 - East Orange, Neptune, Paterson and Pemberton
January 21, 2009 - Hoboken, Irvington, Jersey City and Trenton
February 11, 2009 - Burlington, Elizabeth, Millville and Orange
March 18, 2009 - New Brunswick, Phillipsburg, Pleasantville and Union City
April 29, 2009 - Bridgeton and Newark
May 20, 2009 - Harrison, Keansburg, Perth Amboy and West New York
June 10, 2009 - Camden, Garfield, Long Branch and Salem City

IMAX Dome Theater showtimes: 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00 pm*

Joseph D. Williams Science Theater showtimes: 5:45, 6:30, 7:15 and 8:00 pm*

*Tickets are available free on a first-come, first-served basis at the Box Office beginning at 5:15 pm on each Community Evening. Tickets cannot be reserved or picked up in advance. Theater tickets may be limited to one show per person.

Schools arranging bus transportation for families must register with Liberty Science Center no later than five business days prior by contacting Angelina Ebreo at 201.253.1492. Families traveling by car or public transportation do not need to call ahead.
